Lily came into our lives as a stray that our daughter found. We still think someone was giving away puppies but 13 years later, our daughter is still sticking to the “I found her” story. We had just lost our Boxer of 12 years and thought, nope take her back from wherever you got her. We took her to the pound and 45 minutes later, went back for her. ?.
She was everyone’s favorite pet, always such a good girl. She never showed any signs of aggression toward anyone. We had complete confidence with her being around our newborn grandchildren. Lily was their shadow… mainly because she knew they may have snacks but for the most part, she was making sure they were ok.
She loved to sleep in bed with us, and loved to be under the blankets. Her favorite thing to do was to roam out 5 acres and try to catch any animal that crossed her path. She brought us home many gifts that she had caught-eek!
After 13 years of constant love and devotion, she became very sick, very quickly. Fine on Sunday and gone on Wednesday. Her leaving us was the worst day of our lives. We feel such guilt letting her go and I’m trying to tell myself, this was in the best interest for her. I would give anything to have her back with us, we miss her every minute of every day!
