Our beloved dog Charley passed away on April 6, 2025 at 2:01 PM after a long fight with kidney disease. I’ve had many dog throughout my life, but Charley was truly special. I had never met a dog with such a huge personality, which can be seen in the way we aquired Charley. My wife used to teach in the Detroit inner city at school located off of Charles Street about 11 years ago. One day the dog, that was eventually named Charley after the street the school was located on, followed some kids in through the doors of the school. He wandered the building before finally entering my wifes classroom. His hair was overgrown and he was very dirty. One of the schools janitors said they had seen him around the dumpsters the other day behind the school. My wife decided to take him home as no one else was able. She took a picture of him with her phone and texted it to her mom. Her mom’s response was, “What is it?”, as he looked like a mop with his overgrown hair. She took him to the vet and found out he didn’t have a microchip and no way to find out if he had any pervious owners. The vet estimated him to be around 3 years old at the time. My wife took him in, named him Charley, and they were each others partner until I met them in January of 2020. The three of us have been together ever since, and he was an integral part of our lives. Losing him has been one of the most difficult moments of our lives. We always wondered what his first 3 years were like, but we hope he enjoyed the last 11 as much as we did. We love you Charley so much, and hopefully we will meet again.

I know how hard it is. But dogs are angels on earth… they halo is just their collar instead.
