On a hot 4th of July in 2013, this frail, tiny kitten the size of an action figure came through the fence into my mom’s backyard while we were barbequing. She was persistent and wouldn’t leave! She had scratches on her face and her eyes where almost closed shut. Her purrs and meows were basically saying “help me!” My daughter insisted that we take her home and call the local animal shelter for assistance. We planned to drop her off at the Michigan Humane Society, however, the shelters were at full capacity and they told us that she would most likely be euthanized because of all the overcrowding. We named her Summer for the season and fostered her through Paws, bottle fed her and nursed her back to health. She became our family member and friend for 11 wonderful years. Summer was definitely the boss of the house! She loved to play, eat her snacks and cuddle on the sofa to watch TV. She always woke us up early for breakfast as we would feed her before we left the house for work and school and she stayed on that schedule until she fell ill in the last couple of months of life. We will miss her dearly, but have comfort in knowing that she is at peace and has crossed that rainbow bridge into cat heaven. Lastly, we are most grateful to Pet Passages for all the kindness and care shown to us at this very difficult time of the loss of our beloved fur baby. RIH Summer! <3
