My daughter graduated 5th grade in 2021. She’s always wanted a cat and she would beg me for one everyday. I was never a cat person and I’ve never been interested in cats. But as a graduation gift, I took her to the shelter to pick out a cat. Spooky immediately stuck out to us. When we took him out, he flopped onto my arms. Spooky has always been a silly cat. We fell in love with him, and we were quick to make our choice on adopting him. Once we took him home he got comfortable fast. Everybody in the house loved him, especially my daughter. We took care of him and spoiled him with treats and toys, although he would lose every toy we bought him. His favorite toys were the electronic mouse toys and he would like playing with our dogs. Spooky was a very smart cat. He would watch where we kept his treats and steal them whenever we weren’t around. We’ve had him for 3 years until he got sick with urinary tract infection. It happens commonly in male cats, Spooky unfortunately suffered with it. The veterinarian told us it’ll be better to put him down. We were all devastated, my daughter cried for days until she couldn’t anymore. Spooky had just turned 10 on May 21st and on May 22nd we had to put him to rest. He lived a happy life and I appreciate him for showing me that cats are really lovable sweet animals. My advice for anyone reading this is to give your animals a lot of love and spend as much time as you could with them because you never know when their time might come to an end, and if you are looking into getting a pet, adoption is the best option. Spooky, my daughters first pet, and my family’s first cat, will always hold a special place in our hearts.
