On 2012 somewhere in Kuwait, I had visited a friend who was rescuing dogs. They have around 15 dogs and 8 cats in house, that are currently waiting to get healthy and hopefully get adopted. All of the dogs are just roaming around the house. I was sitting in the corner of the sofa, when one of the dogs started sniffing me, I did not paid attention because I was busy talking to my friend. But this white little dog suddenly hop on my lap, and looked me in my eyes so I started petting her, who can resist? At that moment when another dog and cats tried to check me out, this white cute dog on my lap started snarling and getting protective. My friend noticed and she asked me, “are you interested in adopting anyone from the crew?” I was not honestly, because I was living alone that time and working most of the days. I said not sure, then asked her why? My friend said, “I believe that Nour this little baby on your lap have chosen you”. She said if dog chooses their human the bond is strong and she might get heart broken if I don’t take her, she told me give a try if it doesn’t work you know where we are. A simple visit to my friend that night, turned out to be the day I got rescued by this sweet little baby I never knew I needed.
The 14 years I am with her was amazing. From Kuwait I took her home in Philippines on 2019, then later on flew here in USA that same year.
I never knew I needed a dog, because I was occupied at work and I was too busy fulfilling my responsibilities back home. She chose me because she felt my heart, she felt how broken I was and then she knew those years living alone will be unbearable for me. She chose me, to fill my life with joy. She chose me, to show that I deserve love without asking for anything in return. She taught me to enjoy life, to run and have fun, she calms me down when I am restless and showed me how to trust when I have uncertainty. That night, was the start of something magical, she looked into my eyes without judgement just love.
People say I rescued her, but the fact that she chose me to let me live, and to love me unconditionally, I say Nour saved the life me she rescued me. I am forever grateful to be her mommy.
