Juniper always liked little Mermaid, even before he lost his legs. In fact one day I took him to meet live mermaids and he lost his cool. But when he was actively losing his legs to frostbite, he liked the little mermaid Just a little bit more because I would put it on for him. You may be asking yourself how can a rooster like the little mermaid and how can you tell? well he would crow along to the songs. He would specifically watch the TV…he wouldn’t take a nap. I tried other Disney movies and he didn’t pay attention. Just the little Mermaid .
So one day I was talking with someone who is a pro mermaid and said “I should probably get a tail and surprise Juniper huh” and they convinced me to get a tail. so I get in the tail, I hop in the bed and I put on the little mermaid music….. a friend bring in Juniper and he absolutely lost his cool!!! He was so surprised to see me as a Mermaid that he couldn’t even crow at first He just went through the motions.

Juniper Santa story.
Juniper, despite his frostbite. Enjoyed the fall/winter holiday season. From 13 course meals for him and his flock on thanksgiving to snuggling up with me on cold winter nights. But there was one thing juniper loved most of all about the season. SANTA. We aren’t religious, but boy did June go wild for Santa. It was so similar to the mermaid reaction that 3 years ago I knew what I had to do and hatched a plan.
I was going to do whatever it took to have juniper meet Santa.
And we did.
Every year. For three years.

Juniper bath story.
Chickens can swim for a little bit before they get waterlogged… so they notmally avoid water…..but that didn’t stop Juniper from enjoying bath time.
He always enjoyed a long warm Epsom salt bath with coconut oil rubs for his nubs, wattle, and comb after being blow dried with a hair dryer. The hair dryer wasn’t his favorite but he tolerated it as a side effect of a relaxing bath time.
In fact. The tattoo of him on my arm is based off a photo of him in the bath!

Juniper raincoat story
Despite liking baths, Juniper absolutely despised rain and would run for shelter at the lightest sprinkle. if I had him in the bath, and I had it on shower mode and held the sprayer too high. He would think it was rain and begin to run so I found a solution . I bought him a dino raincoat.
A few times I noticed when it rained, he would flip the hood himself over his head and start crowing until I got him

Juniper loved cat food. Wet or dry. He would steal it from the cats every chance he got. He was ruthless. More than once I’ve had to grab he before he gorged himself to death. You would think he’d never seen food before when he was around cat food
On very special occasions he got to share a can with the cats and loved every moment.
Oh. The cats also tried chicken food one day …

Juniper chillness story
June was a chill bird always regardless of the company he kept
When you think of two roosters meeting most people think the end result is that of a Betta fish, but with June he knew how to let the other rooster know he was the boss without ever laying a feather on him

In short, he was a wonder bird and will be missed by hundreds of people.
