Goodbye little Goose.. I’m not big into posting, but I feel compelled to post this for my loving dog’s eulogy.
When I first met Jena she had always made it clear that she wanted a black Pug. After we bought our first home the time came to get a dog. At the time, we didn’t necessarily look into searching for a pug, but really just wanted to rescue a dog from a shelter. It didn’t really matter what type of dog exactly. While we were waiting at the shelter in Westland, I suddenly heard Jena gasp loudly. I was like WTF is going on?! Only to realize a woman had just walked through the door holding a black pug. I immediately approached the woman asking about the the pug. Long story short, she was attempting to hand the dog over to the rescue. Instead of her giving to the shelter, we were able to acquire Gooseman. The moment we got Goose into our truck, I remember seeing Jena’s face which was pure joy but also disbelief that she had just got the dog she had always dreamed of having. His actual name was “Chance” and just by “chance” he entered our life.
He is the epitome of a lap dog. He is not happy unless he is snuggled up with someone; really didn’t matter who. He has slept with Jena and I the entire time. He is an obnoxiously loud snorer. One would never think having that sound in your ear all night wouldn’t be appeasing, but it certainly grew on me and I took comfort in knowing he was next to me. As most pet owners would agree, he is a deeply loved and a cared for member of our family. He has gotten along very well with the other pets and with our children.
In the last year his health has deteriorated dramatically. He has spinal arthritis which was making him lose control of his hind legs as well as other issues. I knew his time was approaching and the vet was in agreement that we wanted to keep him as comfortable as possible.
Gooseman, Chance, Goosey, We love you.
We miss you.
We’ll always miss you.
I hope you had a great life with us. You’ve certainly enriched ours.
You are a good boy.
Jena and I will never forget you.
Goodbye Gooseman.
