Daisy Mae came to me almost 11 years ago. It took me a bit to rescue her, but she was worth the wait. I will never forget the day she ran into her new home with her tail, wagging and jumping and playing with me on the floor of the living room. she took to our hearts right away. Daisy Mae was in rough condition, she was covered in burrs and matts, but that didn’t stop her from showing her true beauty and love. When I took her to the groomer, for the first time, she was so excited, she knew she was in great hands, and after about five hours she walked out of the room with her head and tail held high. Daisy Mae always kept one eye open for me while she was sleeping to make sure I was being protected. She always loved snuggling up to get her pets in when my husband, Joe and I got together Daisy excepted him and his baby girl shadow with the same love that she showed me on the first day I got her , she was so happy to have a sister now. Daisy had so many adventures. She loved, jumping in the water while we were fishing and would always try to catch fish on her own. She loves going for car rides, especially in the jeep with the top off she also had tons of fun running around on the property up north and playing in Lake Huron , after a while, we added to her pack and brought Sasha into our home. Daisy wasn’t sure about her at first because she was a puppy and a husky so she had tons of energy. Daisy just would let her do her thing and she would lay in her bed, keeping a watchful eye over her and all of us. When it snowed outside, Daisy was so happy she would run out into the snow lay down and roll around in the snow until she was fully covered, I guess that was the malamute in her. Then she would stand up and look at me and give me the biggest smile ever. Daisy loved waiting at the gate for our neighbor to give her a daily treat. She would also let us know when Dad came over and pulled up into the driveway because she would let out one bark just one, but it was the loudest bark ever!!!! And she would wait for dad to bring her a treat. One evening, Daisy and the girls were playing in the backyard and I heard some commotion, and I saw Daisy walking towards me with an excited trot. When I opened the door to let her in, she brought inside a possum. She was so happy to show me what she had brought to me. I told Daisy no you have to take it outside and she took the possum outside set it on the patio and gave me the biggest smile ever. I told her thank you so much, because she was happy that she was able to bring me a gift lol. A few minutes later, the possum walked off into the tree lines like nothing ever happened. That is a memory that I will never forget it sure was some excitement . As the years went on, we could see Daisy getting tired and moving slower, but she still enjoyed all of her adventures. Daisy really took to Joe and would always sit next to him and wait for her rubs, they had a special bond. Joe always called her fuzzy wuzzy and she would always tilt her head and smile at him. I will never forget that day when Joe and me had to have that conversation that we said we never wanted to have. I remember looking into your eyes and seeing how tired you were, I know you were telling me it was OK and that you would be OK but we did not want to let you go. You gave us so much love and joy in the time that you were part of our family. Your last night your sisters slept with you next to your bed. They also knew. I know I rescued and saved you, but you also rescued and saved me Daisy. Even in your final moments, you still kept one eye open watching out for me. When you went to cross the rainbow bridge, you were surrounded by love we were all with you and you went to that bridge like a queen. As hard as it was when you left us I am so grateful that I have so many memories and got to spend so much time with you. You will forever be in our hearts.
